I do not see these mass membership organizations being reconstituted spontaneously anytime soon so the parties will continue to be dominated by their very upscale college educated primary electorates in the primary election. The most successful policy elites in the neoliberal period from the 90s to the present were libertarians in economics whose ideas and water down form were adopted by clinton democrats and reagan republicans and neo-conservatives. If we move away from those two schools of thought it will probably be as result of changing the minds of members of the elite and it has to be a bipartisan consensus of the u.s. hegemony strategy or deregulatory neoliberalism.
