What Is Acute Kidney Injury?
A classic definition of acute kidney injury is an acute and significant drop in kidney function. But when you wanted to do a study, it became difficult to operationalize such a generic description. The only way they could get reliable billing was like if anybody got dialysis for acute kidney, they got dialysis. It wasn't on dialysis to begin with what we call that acute kidney injury.
