How Much Do You Have Your Audience in Mind When You Write?

I'm curious as a parallel question, how much do you have your audience in mind when you stand up when you're writing? I try and find kind of the truest thing to write about instead of the most obvious or maybe the most, like he said, loud or explosive, you know. But I'm not so aware of any kind of audience, to be honest. I mean, I really appreciate, I'm just shocked when anybody reads anything I've written and has a positive response to it. That's what happens if I think about the reader.
