Drugs and Ecstasy

I started getting seriously interested in the question of drugs, recreational drugs, as opposed to therapies as a medical therapies. I was brought in to help the home office and the government plan a strategy for MDMA, to reduce the harms of excess MDMA. And that was my first chance to have some involvement with the government. It was probably the most successful one has ever been in terms of my interaction because we came up with a policy which worked. The reason you can go into any pub or restaurant in Britain today is because we made it essentially a law that any hospitality venue had to serve free water. So it was a dramatically effective and very low cost intervention.
