Slavery began to be widespread about 11 thousand years ago, and it remained common all over the world until the last 200 years. Here in america, slavery has been entangled with the issue of race. The age of exploration led to long distance transportation between europe, africa and the Americanas. Europeans had long distance transportation in the form of their sailing fleet,. so they could take people who had been captured and enslaved in africa, bring them to the new world and sell them there. They also took goods from the new world back to europe.
