The Progressive View of Masculinity
Many young men feel their difficulties are often dismissed out of hand as whining from a patriarchy that they don't feel a part of. For young men in particular, the assumption of a world built to serve their sex doesn't align with their lived experience. The American Psychological Association and its guidelines for psychological practice with men declared that traditional masculinity marked by stoicism, competitiveness, dominance, and aggression is damaging to mental and physical health.
