The Importance of Thinking About the Future
As that World War I hero, the US military in World War II felt they could use him in different ways. They would ask him to go speak to bases around the U.S., first of all, go on a speaking tour. He was then asked to go out to the Pacific and deliver a message to General McCarthy. No one knows exactly what the message was but it most likely was a rebuke of MacArthur for countering his military superiors by requesting more equipment be sent to Asia than Europe.
