She starts off low and gets lower over the course of the episode. Give her a break. She's got a lot going on. Her father just died. I feel like she's concerned about democracy. The whole trajectory in this episode felt like self-sabotage in some way. It was so obvious that she was lying. Wasn't the show runners playing with our emotions?
