Tagore's Nobel Prize
Chandrika was the first non-Western to win that prize for literature. No one was more surprised than Tagore when he found out about it, says author. He had some Swedish followers in the sense of some poets in Sweden who took took certain moves sort of recommendation up. But I think it was also because you have to remember the context of Europe at this time with growing militarism and what Tagore's poems at one level represented - a breath of fresh air.
