The Importance of Social Context in Religion
For an awful lot of things we do with each other, especially the sensitive important ones, even sacred things, we use a lot of social context to help learn what to do and how in many very useful ways. It's often relatively hard to separate out the learning and the pressure that we get for sort of religion is a very social thing. But I even think in romance as well, people are eager to get social clues and input of people around them who might like them and who nodded how they should behave.
