Is There Room in the Special Sciences for a Different Methodology?

I think the principle of focusing on just evidence gets more muddy as you progress into the special sciences or higher level sciences. Once you get past economics for example, then questions become so complex and there's some examples that that methodology becomes less attractive. So I don't have much reason to to deviate too much from in most cases from the standard scientific ways of doing things. That's not to say we shouldn't be experimenting with other other ways of thinking of that's good but there isn't any obvious place to go there isn't some other other there isn't another game plan we could just start exploring right now.
