The Acute Period and the Appendectomy Recurrence Rate

For patients in the CODA trial who are randomized to the antibiotic arm at three or more years, the rate was about 49%. So about half of patients had recurrence as defined by need for appendectomy related to appendicitis. The rates may be a little bit higher than the other trials for a number of reasons. One is, as Dave mentioned, we included patients who had perforation and appendiculus who were not included in prior trials.
