The Right Not to Bear Arms
Most of the first day constitutions did not have a provision on the right to bear arms, which is shocking given our obsession about it to day. When they did include such a provision, they included a balancing provision, which protected the right not to bear arms. Why would some one need to have a right to not bear arms because of their religion? These were religious pacifists, and were sort of touching on first amendment territory here.
