What It Meant to You to Be an Ambassador to the United States?
I can only imagine how moving and what it must have meant for them to see you take on that symbolic and meaningful role. They were proud of me, and i was proud of them, and i still am proud of them. You know, even for my service in the government, showing up every day with an american flag in your office, you really know why you're there. Well, i think it was hugely important when the soviet union fell apart and all these new countries emerged. Many of these countries remembered what it was like not to be under a dictatorships,. And they don't want to go back. I think that's why what is happening now with russia
