The Toxicity of Insects
We have just created a world that is toxic to life for a variety of reasons. Insect biomass appears to have dropped 50 to 75% since World War II. The sperm count in the developed world has dropped at less than half, and it's showing no sign of decelerate. In both cases, lots of insects, lots of sperm count, 2% a year. I would argue it's quite plausible that we're already in what E.O. Wilson, the great Ant-Man, would call the cascade effect. Even if we started to behave miraculously brilliantly tomorrow, it's too late. We've managed to open up an eight-year gap in life expectancy as if we
