Is Liz Truss a Zombie Prime Minister?
Liz Truss is now a zombie Prime Minister who is the prisoner of her Chancellor. Her aim will I think be to simply make it to that rather unfortunately timed fiscal statements on Halloween in the hope that that will reassure the markets and Conservative MPs that they have a plan. The early signs though are that neither camp is buying this. And I think we are seeing a return to the austerity rhetoric of the Cameroon period, but in far more difficult political conditions than before. It was possible for for David Cameron to retain power even after all the austerity until obviously it blew up with Brexit. But he had the advantage of being able to blame the Lib Dems in part. He could blame the last Labour
