The Basic Form of Consciousness Is Emotional and Affective Feeling

Lesian evidence, deep brained stimulation evidencepositon omission tomography evidence and psychophormicological evidence all converge on the conclusion that feelings are actually generated in the brain stem. That it's not just that when the cortex is gone, it looks as if these kids are still conscious in an affective sense of the word. All o these other methods confirm that affective feeling states are generated, not in the cortex, but the brainstem. So this part of the brain, which it's always been recognized since it was discovered, is the is the found ation of consciousness.
