How to Teach Comprehension Monitoring
The typical student reader is going to develop strategy, strategy, strategy moving gradually, but sometimes quickly into a skill mode based on how well they learn it. That's the learning part. Our teaching part is we don't teach reading skills. If we visualize or conceptualize skills as automatic, you can't teach stuff to automatic students. But you have to teach the deconstructed idea of it.
