Inspector Brian Jackson was the first officer to see victim of rape in 1982. West Yorkshire Police followed correct procedure, but their inquiries came to nothing. They knocked on over 14,000 front doors in search of witnesses. But they still managed to scrub the investigation in a major way. Even a force as inept as West Yorkshire managed to realise that there was a connection between the two cases of women being raped in their cars. However, rather than keeping the material they collected, they simply threw it all away.
