The Future of Work on Platforms
In my PhD, I focused on sharing economy platforms. And then from there, you know, I started researching companies such as Blublocker and Airbnb and then later Uber. So the starting point in my research was really this view that platforms are my decided marketplaces right so there's an intermediary matching demand and supply. However, there's also another view which is really this view of platforms can also be seen as emerging organizations. On the one hand they're market places with market mechanisms but on the other hand they're also merging organizations or hierarchies. We have a few builds on the work by Gulati and Goya to combine these two perspectives.
