The Secret Bower
By 11 74, henry was no longer hiding his relationship with rosamond. He had built a secret apartment for her at the centre of a huge labyrinth. The way through the labyrinth was then guarded by henry's most trusted soldiers. We're told that eleanor was disgusted by the way the king wantonly flaunted this affair. She assembled a small unit of loyal men and moved on the secret bower. When eleanor and her men arrived at the bower, they found rosamond completely alone and defenceless.
