The Failure of the Good Friday Agreement

The Good Friday Agreement came into effect on 2 December 1999. Violence has decreased but there have been periods where parties couldn't agree. Peace works whenever unionism is seen as a partner rather than something to be got over, Lee says. James was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly for the Women's Coalition and in 2000 was appointed deputy speaker. He went on to become the director of strategy and policy at the Democratic Unionist Party and later an adviser to First Minister Arlene Foster.
