The Importance of Context in the History of Christianity
The context of Hebrews 11 is important to understand the world these sermons were preached in. To add to how turbulent that tide was, we've got to take just a second to talk about Nero,. He most likely was the emperor during the time that Hebrews was given as a sermon and put into an epistle. And he's known as sending out his soldiers rounding up Christians, having them impaled on stakes covered with tar and lit on fire. So when they were Jews, they were bullied. They were made fun of because they're monotheistic.
