Gibraltar's Sovereignty
In 2022, the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picado, said Gibraltar will never be Spanish. The UK voted to leave the European Union in 2016, but almost 100% of Gibraltar's residents voted to stay. There have been two referendums on the issue of Gibraltar's sovereignty, both rejected any role for Spain. In a nutshell, Spain wants Gibraltar back from Britain. Gibraltarian people do not care about economy or social policies like most countries - they just want their independence.
