How to Assess Emotions of a Collective

Eric Liu: Can we read what other people are feeling? Usually on an individual to individual basis, we look at someone's face and they frown when we infer certain emotions. We wanted to understand what's driving that so we did this study by tracking people's gaze using an eye tracking machine. People just spend much more time on the emotional faces, which then leads them to evaluate the crowds as more emotional.
