Osteoporosis causes no symptoms until you fractured something. Osteoarthritis is a different condition that causes aches and pains. So men and women's bones increase from puberty quite dramatically. And then in midlife, from the five to seven years across the menopause transition, there's quite a steep drop in bone density for women. There's a drop for men and women through later life that's associated with aging.
