What's the Point of Natural Disasters?

When it comes to natural disasters, i feel like this is the part of his collapse conversations where it can easily dive into the whole romanticized idea of collapse. When you really think about what this looks like, it's not so grand and exciting. Even just a foot and a half to five feet of sea level rise has the capability of collapsing our entire planetary system of trade and economics that we currently utilize. The political implications around how to handle hundreds of millions but billions of people being displaced is just horrifying to me.
