Piranesi has come to realize that the worlds are one in some deep important way. And maybe he is able to appreciate and be grateful to this world in a way that he wasn't before. He's been touched by magic. Whether or not this is like red is being touched by a good world or by a traumatic experience. I think that whatever that is, he comes out with a renewed integration of good aspects of his personality.
