The Indus Valley Civilization
There are a couple of old ideas that we need to dispense with from the very beginning. The indus valley civilization came into existence long before any migration from the north could have taken place. A relatively unified way of life spread over a huge geographic area several times the size of mesopotamia or the nile valley. Thousands of smaller settlements scattered between the four or five major cities. That's a pretty good run.
