Materialism: A Materials Science Podcast
Hydrophobic Waxes?
In industry, they're replacing the fluorinated waxes with colloidal metals. But I mean also alkane groups, those functional groups themselves are hydrophobic. And if you get like a six-membered ring coming off of the popping off the side of a polymer chain, those can also be hydrophobic depending on the conditions. So in addition to just the chemical treatment, you can also do physical alterings to the material surface. They get hydrophobicity as well.
