In the wild with animals, when they have an experience of being that's life threatening and they freeze and you can feel the trauma in their system, afterwards they shake it out. But we humans don't do that. We get kind of physically numb and we immerse in our anxious thinking and behaviors basically aimed at soothing ourselves. Then what happens is that when we get triggered, we swing, we get flooded and possessed by rawness. And then we cut off again and get kind of numb and habitual.
