Do You Have a Zero Government Debt?
Jerome Jerome says the Fed should not raise interest rates to control inflation. He argues that if it did, people would be in a much worse position than they are now. The central bank is trying to use its power over borrowing and spending as a tool for controlling inflation, he adds. But when we go with inflation, the real value of monetary savings goes down - even though bankers don't know this because they're so well-connected,' writes Mr Powell.
