I'm heartened by the new interest in NLP plus HCI. I think each setting is probably going to need some specialized research. It's also important to have diversification in the different models so that there's ways to check them, make sure that they are safe and appropriate for a particular use. The techniques of HCI and ethnography really work independent of the context. And as soon as you get people involved, people are complicated.
