Learn Better When You Have a Goal in Mind
I find that I learn things best when I'm learning them as a means to an end that I care about but not as the end goal. Adam maybe you can speak to this as well in terms of you know side projects and why so many open sources are so important. Learning JavaScript is such an open-ended thing to say whoa okay at what point are you and are you brand new to the web? It's amazing how easy it is for somebody to get started these days.
