Meg Ryan: I'm always been told to start with outline with beat sheet. That's part of the TV process because those beat sheets or outlines go to the executives and they have to get approved. She wrote a TV pilot and discovered all the things that seemed crucial to set up upfront could either serve as backstory or be cut from the plot altogether. "I think I remember the exact moment when I kind of realized what you guys were talking about, exactly this," she said.
