The British East India Company and the Seven Years War

The french and the british east india companies fought for control of parts of india. This was part of a larger conflict between the french and british known as the seven years war, which is considered by many to be the first world war. The north american theatre of that war in 17 73 is known in america as the french and indian war, but the indian here refers to native Americans. So it was, in fact, a global war spread over multiple continents.
