The Importance of Outpatient Coding
The team is trying to work out what would practically allow us to deliver outpatient coding. The conclusion from the work that this group have put together is that actually if you use a SNOMED CT it should be able to code most patients relatively straightforward in a modest number of groupings. It's clearly important as the authors point out that this is clinician led that this is not just done by an administrator who doesn't know the patient very important but if it's to be clinician led it has to be useful to them.
