The Kinks Perversion
The group worked the perversion with Ray on lead, and recorded it three days later. The Kinks version had none of the power of Little Richard's original or of the Beatles version; only scribbled its weight in number 42 on the charts. As they had no permanent drummer, for that record, and for the next few they made, the Kinks were augmented by Bobby Graham who played for Joe Meek as one of Mike Barry in the Outlaws.
