I think that the unifying word here is disappointment, disappointment with the way society has turned out in some cases. And then there's a component of economic disappointment as well. We come down to an argument about whether the cultural factors are more important and I don't disagree. The best way to explain it is through disappointment and anxiety created by rapid change. In many democracies, constant sense of conflict and contradiction so all around us people are yelling at each other the whole time.
