The Rise of the El Nino Climate System
New GDP data shows our economy grew by 0.2% in the first three months of this year, which is below the expected 0.3%. It's the slowest growth we've had since 2021, when we still had lockdowns happening across the country. Also included in the data was Australia's Household Saving Ratio, which dropped to its lowest level since 2008. The Reserve Bank Governor Philip Lowe gave a speech in Sydney and warned that the path to reducing inflation was likely to be a bumpy one. We also talk about rising interest rates for anyone with debt or a mortgage.
