The Ontology of Christology
Christ is a singular subject of Pauline description to whom are attributed characteristics associated both with God and man. The authors of the Council of Calcedon chose to denote these two forms of Paul's Philippians 2, 6 through 11 in overtly ontological terms by using semantic phrases from Greek technical terminology. Only if Christ is a single person who is both God and man, can formulations such as this one make sense.
