The Importance of Long Term Thinking in the Paleolithic

I think it's really important to take a diachronic view and look at phenomena sort of in a broad chronological way as they unfold. And I find that when you do that kind of really long term thinking, you tend to change the parameters of the questions that you're asking in really interesting ways. You tend to take a step back and it's much easier to abandon kind of inbred assumptions about use of the landscape or fires.
