i think what c s lewis is describing might have been the way the pharisees viewed it. And they should have known that, because that's what god had described him fas all the way back in exodus 34. In our first conversationar read as exodus 33 11, in the tent of meeting the tabernacle, moses met with god face to face like a person meets with a friend. That's kind of what he saw here.
