The False Spies of World War II

Pujol and Tommy Harris invented well over 20 agents. The Nazis never realised they were being shown a soap opera. A fake Swiss businessman named William Garbo's was so good at observing convoys coming in and out of Liverpool that the Germans grew particularly interested in him. So Pujol decided that Garbo's must pay the ultimate price for his service. And a death notice was put into the Liverpool Evening newspaper and the cutting was sent by Garbo to his German controllers.
