The Benefits of Not Planning a Book Out
I would never plot a book out and the reasons really are pretty simple. As a writer, you need to enjoy what you're doing as much as possible. And I wouldn't enjoy just working from a plan. There needs to be some level of spontaneity and excitement for me. For me, characters don't come alive until you get them on the page. They really don't. So that shows the benefit for me of not working too closely to a plan.
