The photonic based approach is use existing semiconductor manufacturing techniques to put a set of us uh silicon photonics on a silicon wafer. It's all wired up electrically as well as optically using conventional telecommunication fibers and then it's aggressively cooled so into that four to ten Kelvin regime. Eventually you can dispense with the need for cooling altogether with a photonic quantum computer and use semiconductor single photon detectors, he says. The whole thing runs at ambient and then it looks even more like a conventional computer.
