How Did You Come Up With the Idea of Statistical Engineering?
Statisticians do think of themselves as being engineers. We aspire to be scientists discovering truth, but often society needs us to solve problems. So let's embrace being engineers and think about what statistical engineering could look like as a counterpart to statistical science. The origin of this association is actually in the chemical industry where we were doing research when we were beginning to set up the association.
