I think beauty is essential for medieval thinkers, including Aquinas. It's in a way what holds all the other transcendentals together,. And it manifests itself as truth to an observer. So you've got this kind of triadic structure that something is manifest, but not fully manifest. But I think even that can't be taken as static or finished in any of our senses of finished.
