What's on the List of 58 Technologies?
Long-wave theory is an idea that some technologies lead to, as they diffuse to the economy, lead to long-term growth. The list was written by a Soviet economist who was executed in the Stalinist purge after 10 years in the Gulag. There's some really goofy things on there; I think the automatic watch must have been really enamored of their automatic watches because that clearly was something really, really important.
