The first scary doll movie that i know of is an early talk he called the great gabo dating back to 19 29. It starred eric von stroheim as a psychologically damaged ventriloquist who started to believe his dummy otto itself was a living, breathing creature. So what's the appeal? Is it the absolute irony of innocent children's toys turning against us and getting violent that makes us embrace them?
